Profit from Shop Floor Flexibility.
Accommodate Changing Demand.

“UniPunch tooling …is very, very simple.”
A Manufacturer of Utility Towers

Business Challenge: Speed to market is critical to business success. Product and program life cycles are getting shorter so design changes are more frequent. Customers are calling for smaller and smaller lot sizes. Speed to market, design changes, small lot sizes – they all call for scheduling flexibility.

  • Would you profit from the flexibility to quote shorter lead times?
  • Do you want to incorporate design changes quickly and inexpensively?
  • Would you like to profitably produce small lots?

Your UniPunch Alternative: For punching and notching your recurring parts, dedicated setups of UniPunch unitized press tooling are a “silver bullet” delivering both short set up times and the productivity of making many holes at once. Plus you retain the high and predictable productivity of stamping from a reusable tooling investment.

You can have it all—

  • The ability to tool up promptly so you can quote short lead times and be in production quickly
  • A modular tooling system to quickly and easily accommodate changes in hole size, shape, or location
  • A highly productive process for fast run times
  • Fast exchange of tooling so you can run small lots

How it Works: Even if you plan to switch to hard tooling when it’s ready, you can promptly assemble the standardized components of the UniPunch system to get in production quickly.

With dedicated setups you change setups in just a few minutes so you can use frequent small lots to support visual and Kanban based production control systems.

UniPunch tooling gives you the predicable productivity of stamping on low cost punch presses or press brakes. The shorter run time can be quoted at a lower rate than if you used expensive CNC hole making equipment. Save time and money, quote lower prices, and free up your CNC hole making equipment for the parts for which it is uniquely capable.

Incorporating changes is simple.

  • To change the hole size or shape you change the punch and die in the applicable UniPunch holder - you don’t have to disassemble an entire die set.
  • To move a hole, you simply drill holes in the mounting system for the pilot pin and the hold down bolt.
  • To add holes you add additional UniPunch holders, or, to eliminate holes, you simply unbolt holders and remove them. To temporarily eliminate a hole, just pull the punch out of the holder.

It is that simple.

And UniPunch press tooling is reusable. When the demand for the part ends, you retain the standard components in your own “library” of reusable press tooling and pull from it to assemble dedicated quick change setups for other parts…and you can repeat the process for years to come. Plus, you can amortize the cost of UniPunch tooling components over numerous jobs and reduce your bid price on all of them.

The UniPunch tooling system is flexible, and the quick change capability of dedicated setups is perfectly aligned with today’s lean manufacturing practice of producing smaller and smaller lots.
