Accommodate Design Changes. Modify Tooling at Minimal Expense.

“We have to be able to react to design changes quickly. Sometimes a design will only last one month, so that’s why it’s better that we use the UniPunch punches. If we have a design change I just order the punches I need, and we can be back running again quickly."   Manufacturer of High Quality Lock Sets and Door Hardware

Business Challenge:    With today’s rapid pace of innovation, product and program life cycles are shorter, and design changes are frequent.  Changing hard tooling is costly, time-consuming and disruptive to your production schedule.

Your UniPunch Alternative:   Readily available, inexpensive UniPunch unitized press tooling lets you capture the productivity advantage of stamping even for early stage components for which the design is subject to change.

Imagine quickly, easily and inexpensively incorporating changes in hole size, shape or location so you can accommodate design changes without having to reschedule production.  Reusable UniPunch unitized press tooling lets you do it.

For punching and notching your recurring parts, dedicated setups of UniPunch unitized press tooling are a “silver bullet” delivering both short set up times and the high and predictable productivity of making many holes at once.  The UniPunch tooling system is flexible, and the quick change capability of dedicated setups is perfectly aligned with today’s lean manufacturing practice of producing smaller and smaller lots.  You can quote small jobs.  Plus you retain the productivity of stamping from a reusable tooling investment.

How It Works:   UniPunch tooling is a system of standardized components that can be assembled into a dedicated quick change setup that is ready whenever there is a demand for the part.  Incorporating changes is simple.

  • To change the hole size or shape you change the punch and die in the applicable UniPunch holder - you don’t have to disassemble an entire die set.
  • To move a hole, you simply drill holes in the mounting system for the pilot pin and the hold down bolt.
  • To add holes you add additional UniPunch holders, or, to eliminate holes, you simply unbolt holders and remove them.
  • To temporarily eliminate a hole, just pull the punch out of the holder.

It is that simple.

And UniPunch press tooling is reusable.  When the job ends you retain the components in your own “library” of reusable press tooling and pull from it to assemble dedicated quick change setups for other parts for years to come.  And you can amortize the cost of UniPunch press tooling over numerous jobs and reduce your bid price on all of them.

Let UniPunch Help You:   Accommodate design changes and stay competitive.  UniPunch gives you quick change tooling and the high and predictable productivity of stamping from a flexible and reusable tooling investment.  To learn more, send us a print package and let us quote tooling to make one or several of your parts.
